WHAT IS THE HACKATHON?

The hackathon is an overnight digital creativity competition, with just 16 hours to get from an idea to a prototype. At the end of the Youth Hackathon, you will pitch your app, website, video or whatever you dreamed up to a panel of judges and compete for prizes! Hackathons are a great place to learn quickly and create something awesome.

There is a theme for this year - 'Teach me something'. (more info about the theme)

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Absolutely! We'll make sure there is plenty of food, snacks and drinks available at no charge. Friday Tea will be pizza, with a late night snack, and they'll be pastries for breakfast on Saturday.

DO YOU HAVE A CODE OF CONDUCT?

Yes! Check out the link to the rules page.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Bring yourself, your computer, computer charger, basic toiletries (toothbrush/toothpaste/deodorant), and anything else you need for your hack. You won't be sleeping, so no need for PJs and sleeping bags.

THIS IS MY FIRST HACKATHON!

You're more than welcome! We will have staff on hand to welcome you and no matter what your skill level is, you can take part and try and make something amazing.

WHAT AGE STUDENTS CAN ATTEND?

Any young person in school years 9-13 can attend.

HOW BIG ARE TEAMS AND WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ONE?

Gather your friends, work on your own, or build a team at the event. Don't worry about knowing anyone beforehand. The hackathon is great for creating new connections and meeting new people from around the Island. Maximum 4 people per team, although teams of 2 tend to work best.
